Cool new Vehicle....

In the spirit of John Carmack and his recent post about his cool new ride, I thought I'd post a picture of my new vehicle.

I'm looking forward to many hours of fun.... ;-)

It cost 45% less than when I looked at the same machine in September. Construction in California has stopped.

As a general comment, If I win the 150K level 1 2nd prize I don't break even, either of the level 2 prizes and I'm ahead for the three year period.

My money is on you Paul to get the second level 1 prize. The level 2 I would hope you will get one of them though, if I am not mistaken, there is not a lot of time left when you look at what could go wrong. I am going to be disappointed when this is all over.

If we are at all successful we will continue to build rockets. I was out at Mojave on Thursday and I got to see a lot of expensive rocket test facilities that basically sit empty, unused and rotting in the sun.

I think the various groups that built these facilities suffered from overreaching. Building rockets is hard. We plan to continue developing rockets beyond the LLC, but our steps will be small. A lot of space fanatics think that they know exactly how to fix the problem of low cost space access, all they need is a billion dollars to get it done. Yet none of these people have successfully proven they can run a 100K effort much less a 1B effort, the problem is one of organization and attitude toward the problem as much as it is technical.

Hear Hear... well said.
Glad to hear there is a future beyond the LLC. I for one will be following with great interest. To me one aspect that has proven to be powerful and possible long term beneficial return is the interest generated in this field again. It is inspiring and I would like nothing more than to be getting my hands dirty as you have. As you have stated regular planned and controlled steps is the best way forward.

That machine looks like it needs a rocket engine for propulsion :-)BTW, it will probably go faster with all four wheels on the ground!
